Oxford Vision & Sensor Technology (OVST) has been appointed UK Integration Partner for Sick’s PLB system.

The PLB (Part Location in Bins) system comprises a 3D scanning camera which captures a three dimensional image of the components in a storage bin. Powerful, yet user friendly, software then matches the data to a CAD model of the component to be picked.

The system selects the best item to be removed and feeds its position to the robot controller.

The PLB system even takes into account the size gripper, size of the container and the angle at which the component is lying to ensure reliability of pick-up
